Protestor who had knife is charged

A MAN found carrying a knife whilst protesting at a far-right political rally has been charged.

Christopher Taylor was arrested outside a meeting being held by Britain First at Park Lane Club in Bryn on Sunday.

He was part of a group of anti-facist demonstrators who were venting their disapproval of the anti-muslim party.

Police attended to keep order but had to arrest the 23-year-old for threatening and/or abusive language and possession of a pointed article. He has been bailed to appear before Wigan magistrates on July 15.

A 45-year-old woman, who was arrested for assault and criminal damage. has been bailed to the same date.

Britain First incorrectly claimed she had been arrested for racism.
