The offenders, thought to be four men, drove a black Vauxhall Corsa through the shop front on Hall Lane, Up Holland, as staff were stocking up a cash machine at just after 5.30pm on Friday.

A significant amount of cash was taken and police are appealing for witnesses after the car was later found abandoned on nearby Rivington Drive.

Detective Sergeant Phil Bowerbank, said: “Fortunately, none of the victims have been injured but understandably have been left extremely shaken by what can only be described as a terrifying ordeal.

“Any piece of information, no matter how small could be crucial to the investigation so please come forward if you think you can help.”
