SCORES of people turned out to have their say and listen to key health speakers at two Healthier Together public events.
The events, held last Thursday at the Mecure Hotel in Wigan and Leigh Masonic Hall saw residents invited to listen to health chiefs give their opinions on the future of healthcare in the borough and across Greater Manchester as well as give the public the chance to ask their own questions.
The Healthier Together consultation, which runs until the end of next month, affects all aspects of healthcare in the borough but in particular will ficus on a shake-up of hospital services.
Around 40 people turned out in Leigh with around 70 attending the Wigan event. Questions raised by residents included the future of A&E, where they would go for treatment and who would decide it and geography and transport issues.
Healthier Together chiefs say they were happy with the turnout and the engagement from the public.
They said following the proposals that less than 100 patients per day across the whole of Greater Manchester will be transferred to specialist hospitals.
