A MAN threatened shop workers with a hammer during a robbery in Leigh.

The offender walked into Cost Less, in Wigan Road, at around 6.45pm on Monday.

He approached the till area, took a hammer from a drawstring bag and demanded cash.

The two frightened members of staff handed over some cash and he then said to them “I’ll see you tomorrow” before walking out.

He is described as white, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall, in his late 20s or early 30s and of skinny build. He was wearing a black or grey hooded top.

Detective Constable Susan O’Connell, said: “The robber was a picture of calm and was in and out in a matter of seconds.

“His relaxed approach suggests to me that this is not the first time he has done this and he is clearly at ease threatening staff and stealing what does not belong to him.

“If anyone saw a man matching the description in the area or thinks they know who he is please get in touch.”
