Saddle Junction crash death

A MAN has died following a road accident in Wigan yesterday evening.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to the Saddle Junction on the A49 near the Asda superstore at around 5.15pm on Friday, and found a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a Nissan Almera.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital but passed away a short time later.

Part of the A49 heading towards the town centre remains closed while the circumstances of the incident are investigated.

The accident caused major disruption to traffic, with delays for drivers leaving Robin Park or heading out of the town centre.
