A YOUNGSTER sparked a major police alert when he falsely claimed that he had been abducted outside his Wigan school.
The unnamed 13-year-old had alleged that he had been picked up by two males in a black 4x4 on his way to school and then let out in Preston Road, on Monday morning.
Staff at Standish High School alerted parents and informed the police.
But following a full investigation, it was discovered that the boy had made the whole thing up.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said; “The report was investigated by officers and found to be false.
“The school alerted parents before the investigation was complete for safeguarding issues.”
Standish High today declined to comment.
