TWO Wigan primary schools remain closed following a power surge in Hindley Green.

Hindley Green Primary School and St John’s CE Infant and Junior schools will not open to pupils on Thursday after the power supply was lost due to a fault at a substation.

Around 170 people found themselves without electricity at around 12.43pm on Wednesday, but engineers from Electricity North West managed to restore the power at around 10pm.

Electricity North West said the system is now running and is back to normal.
