Some train services cancelled

WIGAN train commuters are experiencing difficulties after some services have been suspended following structural damage.

Railway officers have found a crack on the bridge near Wigan Wallgate, causing safety concerns.

Northern Rail say that services from Wallgate to Manchester have been called off, but passengers can travel via the North Western line.

But trains are running hourly from the Wallgate station to Southport and Kirby.

There are replacement bus services from Wallgate to Bolton and to Salford Crescent.

Northern Rail advises that if anyone needs to travel anywhere fast, they should use the TransPennine Express services which remain unaffected.

Engineers from Network Rail are currently looking into the structural damage.
