WARRIORS fans can take advantage of a special train service to get to Saturday’s crunch match against Leeds Rhinos in Huddersfield.
Following news that 12 coaches laid on for supporters by Wigan Warriors were already full, Northern Rail took the decision to lay on a special service direct from Wigan.
The Warriors travel to the Galpharm Stadium for a rematch of last year’s final in which the Cherry-and-Whites ran out 28-18 winners.
Warrington Wolves meet Huddersfield Giants at the Salford City Stadium on Sunday.
The service will run between Wigan Wallgate and Huddersfield and return along the same route after the game. It will also call at Hindley and Atherton rail chiefs have said.
Wigan hope to book their second trip to the new Wembley stadium by beating the Rhinos to set up a Challenge Cup final against super league rivals Warrington or Huddersfield.
Warriors are expected to bring thousands of fans having already sold most of their tickets.
Northern Rail said that due to the popularity of the real ale trail which runs between Manchester and Batley, they felt it necessary to provide rugby fans with a special service.
A spokesman for Northern Rail said: “The train is scheduled to depart Wigan Wallgate at 2.40pm and will arrive Huddersfield at approximately 3.50pm.
“The return service will depart at approximately 8.05pm and arrive Wigan at 9.40pm.
“Tickets can be purchased on or before the date of travel. Timings will be available via National Rail Enquires and we will confirm timings in the next few days.”
