Stars are out for Braiden's birthday
Brave youngster Braiden Prescott, who is battling cancer for the third time, celebrated his seventh birthday in style.
Friends and family pulled out all the stops for the birthday boy and around 500 people attended a party in his honour.
It was held days after his parents Steph and Wayne were given the devastating news that Braiden has just months left to live and is now receiving end-of-life care.
He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2012 and despite getting the all-clear the following year, it returned.
Braiden and his parents, who live in Ince, travelled to the party at Whelley Labour Club on Sunday in a limousine.
They were escorted to the party along a red carpet by Stormtroopers, Iron Man, Superman and other superheroes.
Boogie Storm, a dance troupe from TV show Britain’s Got Talent, performed for Braiden and gave him a signed helmet worn in the talent competition.
CBeebies host Alex Winters attended the party and took along videos from fellow presenters wishing Braiden a happy birthday.
Postman Pat arrived in his van and presented Braiden with cards and a stuffed toy of Jess the cat.
Doves and balloons were released into the sky and there were six birthday cakes, a magician, a face painter, a snake and a host of other attractions at the party. Organiser Mindy Johnstone said well-wishers were queueing out of the door as they waited to give cards and presents to Braiden.
He received £600 in his birthday cards, while the event also raised £1,780 for his family.
Mindy said: “Braiden is such a special little boy. I just want to give him the world. Everyone wanted to come and show their support.
“It was for Steph and Wayne as well. It’s such a tough time for them and for them to know that people are there, it helps them.”
