Suspected stolen car set alight in Wigan

Firefighters were called into action when a suspected stolen vehicle went up in flames.

A crew from Wigan fire station was called to a track just off Warrington Road, Ince, at around 9.30pm yesterday (Thursday).

On arrival, they found an abandoned Ford Focus with flames licking out from under the bonnet.

It was reported that two people had been seen driving the car earlier in the evening.

The firefighters spent approximately half an hour dousing the flames with hose reels. The incident was then passed on to police.
