Takeaway worker threatened with gun

AN armed robber fled empty handed after threatening a takeaway worker in Wigan.

Shortly before 10pm on Friday, the offender entered Golden Phoenix on Billinge Road, pointed a gun at a 21-year-old woman who was working behind the counter and demanded cash.

The woman ran into the back of the shop and the offender ran off empty handed along Billinge Road.

The gunman is described as being of medium build, about 5ft 6in tall, and was wearing a black coat with a white motif on its back with a scarf covering his face.

Detective Constable Andy Hill, said: “The intention to rob the takeaway was clear and while no cash was taken the young woman who was threatened at gunpoint was left very distressed.

“If anyone was in the area and saw what happened or the offender running off or if anyone thinks they know who he is, please call the police.”
