A TOP Wigan football team has hailed support from a councillor.
Winstanley St Aidan’s FC players are the proud owners of a new team kit thanks to a Brighter Borough Fund (BBF) contribution by Coun Clive Morgan.
The eye-catching new away strip was unveiled this week.
And the Winstanley ward member joined club stalwart and Chairman Bob Ledson and team captain Martin Thomas who acted as the team model for the day.
The £1,000 Brighter Borough Fund donation was also used to purchase other football accessories for the club.
A keen sportsman himself, Coun Morgan is keen to support sport across his ward and when he was approached by Mr Ledson, said he was only too happy to help out.
Coun Morgan said: “Sport is a great way to meet new people, keep fit and healthy and provides an outlet for the talents of our young people.
“Winstanley St Aidan’s Football Club are a credit to our area and they consistently achieve success on the pitch.
“The purchase of this striking new away kit will make them the best dressed team as well.”
