Teen motorcyclist dies in crash

A TEENAGED girl motorcyclist has died in a road accident.

The mother of Charlotte Melling has since paid tribute to her “beautiful daughter” who was fatally injured in a head-on collision with a car on Monday evening.

The 18-year-old was riding a white Yamaha bike out of Wigan town centre on Park Road when tragedy struck at 8.25pm.

The motorbike collided with a gold Vauxhall Agila being driven in the opposite direction near to the junction with Park Crescent.

Emergency services were called to the scene and Charlotte was taken to Wigan Infirmary. But despite medics’ attempts to revive her she was pronounced dead at 3.30am.

Her mother, Kay Sixsmith posted an emotional tribute to her daughter on Facebook.

She wrote: “It is with total devastation and the heaviest of hearts that I can confirm it is my beautiful daughter Charlotte Melling that passed away in the RTA on Park Road last night. She was the most perfect daughter, sister, granddaughter, auntie, niece and cousin and will now be flying high with the angels. I will love you forever baby girl, RIP till I can hold you in my arms once again. Sweet dreams sweetheart xxx.”

The driver of the car, a 49-year-old woman, was not injured in the crash.
