Teen thrown to ground by bike thief

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy had his bike stolen in Wigan by a vicious thug.

At 7.30pm on Sunday (July 13), the teenager was cycling in woods near to Holmes House Avenue, Winstanley, when he was approached by a man on a bike.

He told him to get off his bike and as he was doing so, was grabbed and dragged onto the ground.

The man then rode off on one bike, wheeling the other alongside him.

He is describe as being white, 6ft 2in tall, of slim build, in his mid 20s to 30s, had shaven brown hair, wore a grey top, black shorts and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Rachel Forsythe said: “The boy was obviously frightened and got off his bike when told to do so. However, this man dragged him off and threw him to the ground before stealing it. Fortunately he was not hurt but has been left shaken.

“The bike is described as a white Carrera mountain bike with black writing and a black and blue stripe on it. I would ask anyone who may have seen the bike or witnessed the incident itself, please call us.”
