A MAN who shouted homophobic abuse at another man and threatened him with a knife has been put behind bars.
Michael Fitton, 18, of Twist Lane, Leigh, was given eight months’ detention.
Karen Brooks, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that on September 11 Michael Pearson was at his home in Wilkinson Street, Leigh, with a friend.
He saw Fitton walking down the street towards Railway Road and Fitton shouted through the open window at them. Mr Pearson swore at him and Fitton gestured to him to come outside to fight. Mr Pearson put his boots on and went out and told him to go away.
