Teenager in court after school blaze

A schoolboy has appeared in court in connection with an arson attack at a Wigan school.

The 15-year-old from Hindley stood before magistrates sitting as a youth court in Wigan yesterday. He was charged committing arson at RL Hughes Primary in Ashton, on December 9 causing £90,000 of damage.

The youngster also faced 20 other charges: one common assault, three of assault by beating, seven counts of threatening violence, possession of an offensive weapon, five counts of criminal damage, two of causing actual bodily harm and of obstructing a police officer.
