A MAN was attacked with a wooden bat in his own home, by a balaclava-wearing thief.

At 12.45am on Saturday, August 8, a man wearing a balaclava burst into the home of a 33-year-old man on Park Lane in Abram and confronted him with a wooden bat.

This violent attack left a man with a serious head injury. The thief was so desperate for cash he didn’t care who he hurt in the process

The offender then pushed him onto the sofa and attacked him; hitting him on the head with the bat, before fleeing the house with cash he had stolen. He was last seen running up Warrington Road.

The man is described as white, just under 6ft tall, of stocky build and was wearing a face covering balaclava.

Detective Constable Lee Jamieson of Wigan division said: “This violent attack left a man with a serious head injury. The thief was so desperate for cash he didn’t care who he hurt in the process.

“I would urge anyone who saw the attacker, entering of leaving the house, or who has any information about who may be behind it to contact police.”
