WIGANERS are planning their funerals before even planning for the care they may need in later life.
A survey by live-in care specialist, Helping Hands, to highlight a lack of care planning, revealed that 46 per cent of adults in the North West have discussed wishes in the event of their death with family and friends.
But just 29 per cent have tackled the topic of how they would like to be cared for when they can no longer care for themselves. Lindsey Edgehill, care services manager for Helping Hands, said: “Planning for your own care before you need it empowers family members to make decisions on your behalf that they can be happy with as well as relieving the financial pressure that is often left for loved ones to cope with.”
