A fundraiser launched following the tragic death of a “lovely” Wigan man has generated more than £3,000 in less than a week.

Jordan Appleton, who has been described by friends as an “amazing lad” with a “heart of gold”, died unexpectedly last Monday. Following his death there has been an outpouring of heartfelt tributes and messages of condolences for his family.

A group of Jordan’s closest friends have launched a Gofundme page to help support his parents and contribute to any costs.

Elliot McCallum, who helped to set up the fundraiser in his friend’s memory, wrote: “Jordan meant so much everyone so the least we can do is be there for his family in their time of need.”

Donations have since flooded in and the group have made more than three quartersof their £4,000 target in just six days.

People who knew Jordan from all aspects of his life have spoken out about how his death has impacted them.

One of Jordan’s bosses at PTH Plumbing and Heating in Leigh wrote a tribute to him on social media. “It is with a sad and heavy heart that I need to share the tragic sudden loss of Jordan who joined the team this year,” he said.

“We started off when you were a young 16-year-old going through your four-year apprenticeship with me, me having to drive half hour out my way to pick you up and drop you off, never forgot the day you told me you passed your test and got a car only to write it off a week later.

“Such a pleasure to have spent years of my life training him and working alongside him laughing joking and giving each other stick.

“And only on Sunday you sending pics of new tools you had bought. Never in my wildest dreams would I of dreamt this would happen, it’s been an absolute pleasure...

“Our dream team will never be the same again, and you will never ever be forgotten. Thank you for everything. Until we meet again rest in peace.”
