WIGANERS have joined forces to raise thousands of vital funds for a leading cancer charity.
Marie Curie Cancer Care has honoured the borough after many came out in their droves to support the charity’s Blooming Great Tea Party campaign this summer.
More than 170 tea parties were held to help raise money for the charity.
Kaylie Chapman, community fund-raiser for Marie Curie in Wigan said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who held or attended a Blooming Great Tea Party. Everyone has had a fantastic time and all the funds raised from popping the kettle on will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to terminally ill people, and essential support to their families.”
Marie Curie provides free nursing care to people with a terminal illness in their own homes while also giving their families and loved ones emotional and practical support.
