Cyclist seriously injured following collision on busy Wigan road

At around 12pm today (Saturday) police were called to reports of a collision on Montrose Avenue in Kitt Green.

At the scene they found a cyclist who had received "serious injuries" after crashing into a pedestrian.

The casualty is believed to be a 58-year-old man. He was airlifted to hospital shortly after the collision.

Witnesses have reported an air ambulance landing twice during the course of the afternoon just metres from the incident. However police have confirmed that they have only responded to one incident in the area.

House to house enquiries are currently underway.

Montrose Avenue was initially closed by police but has since been reopened.
