Signal failure causes disruption for Wigan rail users

Due to a fault with the signalling system near Atherton, all lines have been closed between Salford Crescent and Hindley.

Many services have been cancelled, and those that aren't having to be diverted.

Services between Wigan Wallgate and Manchester will still run but will be diverted and are unable to call at Daisy Hill, Hag Fold, Atherton, Walkden, Moorside and Swinton.

Replacement buses are running in both directions between Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent. For more details visit nationalrail.co.uk
