Officers diverted motorists coming up from the town centre onto Swinley Road at the Bowling Green pub.

Pictures showed police tape stretched across the road and that the motorbike had a learner plate on it.

Images from the scene also showed a purple Citroen had come to a stop partially on the pavement with front-end damage.

The road re-opened at around 4pm.
