Woman rescued from car after Wigan road smash
Firefighters had to free a lady trapped inside a car after being involved in a road traffic collision.
The incident took place shortly before 2pm on Sunday October 7, at the junction of Greenough Street and Scholes.
Two vehicles had collided, and one person, who was reported to be an elderly lady, had to be freed from the wreckage by fire crews using specialist equipment. She was "alert" when freed from the vehicle, and was taken to hospital but her injuries did not appear to be serious.
Two engines from Wigan fire station and a technical response unit from Leigh were called to the scene, and were in attendance for approximately 40 minutes. Greater Manchester Police were also in attendance to manage the flow of traffic while the incident was dealt with.
