Water poured onto Wigan Road in New Springs throughout Friday, with engineers called to repair the problem.

Wigan Today reader and keen photographer Chris Winstanley took these pictures at 4pm on Friday to show the extent of the issue.

He said: "It had been a problem from early on today with a loss of pressure for a lot of residents, some even had their water cut off. The water, when the flags were taken, up was gushing up to three feet high and at one point Wigan Road looked like a small river, but by the time I had got there they had stemmed the flow somewhat.
