Police appeal after man dies in Leigh road crash

A man died two days after a collision in Leigh police said tonight.

Ghulam Rasul, who is 74 and from Leigh, died as a result of his injuries on September 12, two days after the collision in the town centre.

At 2.20pm on Monday September 10, police were called to Market Place near to the junction of Lord Street following reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian.

Emergency services and the air ambulance attended and two men were taken to hospital.

Greater Manchester Police say the rider of the bike continues to help officers with the investigation.

A spokesman said: "Serious Collision Investigators closed the road for several hours while carrying out forensic and reconstruction enquiries.

"Anyone with any information about the collision, or has dash-cam footage, is urged to contact police on 0161 856 4741 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
