Work to complete repairs to an M6 bridge near Preston will take place on Saturday night.
The bridge near Broughton, north of J32 of the motorway, is being re-waterproofed in a £70,000 Highways England project focusing on the northbound carriageway.
Work on the bridge, which carries the motorway over Whittingham Lane, was affected by heavy rain last weekend.
The work is set to resume on Saturday night with the eastbound M55 link onto the northbound M6 closed between 10pm and 6am on Sunday morning.
During this period, the northbound carriageway through J32 and beyond the bridge will be reduced to a single lane with a 50mph speed limit in place.
Drivers on the eastbound M55 seeking to join the northbound M6 can either leave the M55 at junction 1 and take the northbound A6 up to J33 of the M6 at Galgate, or continue along the M55, use the eastbound link road for the southbound M6, travel down to J31 for Samlesbury and join the northbound M6 from there.
