RUMOURS are rife that a popular Wigan pub is set to re-open its doors... a year after closing them for good.
A job advert for the Tudor House asking for bar staff has been posted on Indeed.co.uk this week causing much excitement amongst its former punters.
The New Market Street pub has provided decades of live music in the town centre, giving many unsigned acts the chance to perform, usually in front of large crowds.
News of its sudden and unexpected closure last November was met with shock and upset with landlord Russell Miller telling his customers that the “time has come” for his family to end their three decade long association with the pub.
He wrote on Facebook: “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and want to thank you all for the great memories you have given us. We’d repeat some of the best stories here, but as many of you have gone on to live as responsible adults – we think it is best that what happens at the Tudor stays at the Tudor.
“Please don’t worry about us. We are planning a long and happy retirement, finally getting the rest we deserve. We will miss all of the hard rock on the jukebox, but Russ has already started reading books again.
“The point of the Tudor was that it was an alternative place for alternative people to go and be themselves.”
Wigan Today is attempting to contact the Tudor to establish the plans for the future,
