TWO men have been jailed for kidnapping and threatening a teenage girl.
Mark Winstanley, 23, of South Avenue, Leigh, and Thomas Prior, 24, of Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, were sentenced to 12 years in prison after they were found guilty of kidnap, robbery, blackmail and aggravated burglary when they appeared at Warrington Crown Court.
The two men committed a two month crime spree in Leigh and Cheshire where they actively targeted people that they wrongly believed were involved in drug supply.
In one case, in the early hours of Sunday June 8 last year, the two men broke into a house on Eton Street in Leigh and threatened a 17-year-old girl by demanding to know where the money was while holding a knife to her neck. They then attempted to force her into a waiting car outside before she escaped back to the house.
Detective Sergeant John Davies from Wigan East Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INPT) said: “These two men committed a string of violent offences and showed absolutely no regard for the victims they attacked.
“This sentence is a result of work between Greater Manchester Police and Cheshire Constabulary actively targeting offenders who were committing violent crimes.
“We would like to thank those victims who supported the police in bringing these men to justice.”
