MP slams 'incredibly disappointing' decisions to close two banks
A town is set to see two of its banks shut.
Barclays have decided to close their Skelmersdale branch in July, while the town’s TSB is due to shut in May.
Banking bosses have put the decision down to reductions in counter transactions and said that customers can use the nearby Post Office.
But West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper slammed the moves as “incredibly disappointing” and said the banks had “chosen profits over people”.
Ms Cooper said: “I have yet again written to the Business Secretary to raise my serious concerns that banking choice and availability is being completely removed. The Government need to step in to ensure the banks are actually supporting all their customers, not just the ones that have a smart phone.”
