RSPCA appeal after dead puppy is thrown into the garden of a house in Wigan

The body of the black and tan King Charles spaniel puppy was found by a resident in the front garden of their home in Simpkin Street, Hindley, and he alerted the RSPCA on Tuesday (March 3).

Inspector Deborah Beats was sent to the scene and collected the body of the male puppy, aged about 10 to 12 weeks.

She said at this stage there is no indication how the puppy died but the fact the body appears to have been thrown into the garden made the death appear suspicious. The gate on the garden was closed and the gaps were too small for the puppy to walk through - which indicates the body was thrown into the garden.

Deborah said: “We do not know how the dog died as there were no obvious signs on the body but the fact that the body was tossed away like rubbish into a garden does raise questions.

“The householder said the gate of his garden was closed so someone must have thrown it over.

“The puppy is not microchipped and so I am appealing for anyone who may have seen someone suspicious to contact me.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who recognises who the puppy belonged to as it was not microchipped.”
