And now it has announced on Twitter that it hopes to re-open half of its shops next month.

The bakery tweeted: "We hope to have at least half of our shops open in May. Thanks for bearing with us at this time."

The bakery hasn't said when in May the shops will re-open.

It tweeted the news when asked by a customer on Twitter when they were planning on re-opening.

Gary Langley tweeted: "Now then @Gallowayspies, The “green” bakery down the road is making a killing and even the Chippy in town is open. Can you give us key workers any glimmer of hope that you’re thinking about coming back? It would be the most anticipated comeback since Steps reformed."

The bakery plans to open the shops with a limited product range.

Amongst other measures will be marked out bays in shops with a limited number of customers allowed in at one time, while it will ask shoppers to make contactless payments where possible and provide santister stations.

It said it also intends to help NHS workers with discounts on products by specially opening its Market Place branch.
