The blaze tore through the buildings on Park Road, in Springfield, at around 6pm on Saturday July 2.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said everyone in the block of flats was accounted for but it is not clear if there were any injuries.

Six fire engines and an aerial platform were needed to bring the flames under control as firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the incident.

Fire crews and police officers remained at the scene throughout the night and investigators from GMFRS visited the building on Sunday morning.

The fire service said the structure of the building is now being assessed.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) also attended the scene.
