All lanes are now open following flash flooding on the M6.
One lane closed for almost an hour at around 2.30pm on Sunday on the M6 southbound between junction 27 at Appley Bridge and junction 26 at Orrell because of surface water.
But Highways England confirmed it has reopened and warned people to drive carefully.
There have been no serious accidents, although one vehicle has reportedly lost control in the weather at junction 26 of the M6.
Elsewhere in the region, North West Motorway Police are currently dealing with 12 road traffic collisions on the M61, M65 and A56.
