VANDALS caused havoc after they damaged cables at a substation, leaving almost 150 properties without power.
The offenders damaged cables and other equipment at the electricity substation in Spelding Drive, Standish-Lower-Ground, at around 9.45am on Friday.
The vandalism led to 148 homes and properties suffering from a power cut.
Traffic lights were also out in the area.
Engineers from Electricity North West were on site and alleviated the problem by late afternoon.
A spokesman for Electricity North West said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“We treat any attacks on our property incredibly seriously and we are working closely with the police to catch those who are responsible.”
