Waxwork honour for Corrie's Kym
And last night Wigan-born singer-turned-actress Kym Marsh was unveiled as the latest star to have this honour bestowed on them by the world famous Madame Tussaud’s.
The Ashton-born 40-year-old, who plays Coronation Street’s Michelle Connor is currently being measured up for her figure to appear at the waxworks’ Blackpool exhibition.

Her performance won huge critical acclaim and it was a particularly poignant plotline because both she and Simon Gregson (who plays her on-screen husband) had both endured real-life tragedies of this nature.
Madame Tussauds Blackpool said that, after such a brave and powerful performance from the actress, it was only right that the Rovers’ Return barmaid be chosen to grace the seaside resort’s very own Rovers Return Inn.
Since Michelle hit our small screens back in 2006, the pint-puller has been a favourite with viewers and in recent months, Michelle’s turbulent relationship with Steve has kept the nation gripped.

The wax figure will be smiling and standing in a casual pose with arms folded, dressed in a relaxed outfit of a grey, loose top, black jeans and boot, complete with an ombre hairstyle and natural make-up.
Kym said: “I couldn’t believe it when I was approached by Madame Tussauds Blackpool to have my own figure created!
“It’s been fascinating to be involved in the process and see first-hand how the figures are made.

General Manager, Matthew Titherington, said: “We are thrilled announce that Michelle Connor will be the latest addition to the attraction.
“Due to her infamous storyline in the show there has been a huge demand from the public for a wax figure, so we’re sure they’ll love getting up close and personal when it is unveiled later this year.”
Kyn rose to prominence in 2000 after winning the TV talent show Popstars with the band Hear’Say before leaving the group in 2002.
She then started a solo career with her album Standing Tall, which spawned two top 10 singles.
