Then make the most of extended opening times at the recycling centres by coming early or late to avoid the busiest times between 10am and 3pm.

All sites will be open from 8am to 5:45pm from Thursday 27th December to Friday 4th January.

All three recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

To further reduce queues over this busy period residents can also help by pre-sorting their recycling at home before they get on site.

For example selection boxes are made of cardboard that can be recycled and a plastic insert that can’t. By separating these we can recycle more.

Residents are also reminded to check their bin calendar ahead of collections next week with some seeing their collections move forward while others will be moved back. It can be checked online if you do not have a printed copy.

There will be no green bin collections again this year from Monday 24th December – Saturday 5th January so the crews can concentrate on collecting the other bins at the busiest time of year. All collections will return to normal on Tuesday 8th January.
