WIGAN councillors voted in favour of a further £24 million in funding cuts for the coming year.
At last night’s council budget meeting at Wigan Town Hall, only a small minority of opposition councillors voted against the budget proposed by the ruling Labour group.
The council leader Lord Smith told members that while the measures are tough, they will freeze council tax and invest in apprenticeships for young people.
It comes as the borough needs to save £66million over four years.
