Wigan firefighters rescue man who fell into brook at borough beauty spot

A man was taken to hospital after falling into a brook at a borough beauty spot.

Emergency services were called to the brook in Borsdane Wood, off Hindley Mill Lane earlier this afternoon, Sunday January 31..

Fire and rescue service crews from Wigan and Hindley fire stations were dispatched to the scene. The crews arrived to find a member of the public had fallen from a ledge above a tunnel, into the water below and was in need of rescue.

A Watch Manager from Hindley told Wigan Today: "The man suffered minor injuries and was carried though the tunnel along the brook, and then up an embankment by the fire service and NWAS."

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance but his injuries are thought to be minor.

The crews left the scene after approximately two hours.
