Wigan man set for trial over child abduction accusation

Christopher Cross is charged with taking a child under the age of 16 - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - without lawful authority or reasonable excuse from the person with lawful control of the child.

The 26-year-old of Ince Green Lane, Higher Ince, did not enter a plea when he stood in the dock at the Wigan court.

And because of the seriousness of the allegation, justices automatically committed Cross for trial at Bolton Crown Court.

Bail was refused and the defendant was remanded into custody pending his first appearance before a judge which is scheduled to be May 25.
