Wigan residents are being urged to stay safe after several reports of smoke spreading from Saddleworth Moor in some areas of the borough.
Parts of the borough may have poor visibility today due to smoke drifting west from the fire at Saddleworth moor.

Public Health England have advised residents to avoid smoky areas where possible, and if there is visible smoke, to stay indoors and keep your windows closed.
People with heart or lung diseases such as asthma should ensure they have access to their medication and seek advice if their symptoms worsen.
Motorists who have to travel through the smoke should keep windows closed, turn off air conditioning and keep their vents closed
If you’re travelling on the M60 motorway today please drive safely or avoid the area if possible.
