The mood was a sombre one on King Street after England's 2-1 extra-time loss especially after it all looked to be going so well for Gareth Southgate's team who took the lead after just five minutes from a Keiran Trippier free-kick.

England could have wrapped it up in the first half missing a host of chances but a goal by Ivan Perisic on 70 minutes and one in extra time by Mario Mandzukic were enough to knock England out of the tournament.
