A WIGAN woman was threatened with a gun by two men on a moped.

At around 6.50am on Wednesday, May 14, a 50-year-old woman was walking along Carr Street, Platt Bridge, when two men on a moped rode alongside her.

The pillion passenger produced a handgun, which he pointed at her.

They then rode off at speed towards Lily Lane.

A few minutes later a motorist saw two people driving erratically on a moped or motorbike on Lily Lane and then saw the passenger point a gun at houses and fire two shots.

The moped rode off down Lily Lane towards Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The moped is described as a dark coloured moped/motorbike. The two on the vehicle are described as white, 17 or 18 years old, of slim build and wearing all dark clothing. One had a dark coloured helmet and the other a patterned light coloured helmet.

Detective Constable Lynsey Watson, said: “The woman threatened at gunpoint and the motorist who saw them firing the gun have been left frightened by their ordeal and we are working hard to identify the offenders.

“There is no obvious motive for either incident and I would encourage anyone with information about what happened or who is responsible to call us.”
