THERE is much hysteria about fracking everywhere it seems at the moment and your recent front page suggests it could come to Wigan.
People should remember that although shale gas is predicted to exist in vast quantities beneath our feet in the North West, there is no guarantee that it is accessible or usable.
Until exploratory works are carried out, it is all just speculation.
Experts must be allowed to establish once and for all how much there is (if there is any) and how it can be used.
I understand (although don’t agree) why so many are protesting about it. But I do think it to be wasted energy until the firm facts are there for everyone to see.
Everything until then is hearsay and speculation.
