IT may have an old fashioned name, but The Hair and Beauty Shoppe is far from obsolete.

The salon, which has been running for 25 years, also has an on-site chiropodist as well as hair stylists and beauty therapists,

Gill Rosbotham, 49, of Standish, co-owner, said: “I do hair and some beauty treatments.

“I like the social aspect of it and meeting people.”

Cheryl Whitfield, 52, of Shevington, co-owner, said: “I am a beauty therapist and do electrolysis and hair removal. I also treat broken capillaries and do thread vein removal.

“It is quite a challenge learning new techniques, but it is fun.”

Adele Haselden, 28, of Orrell, said: “I do everything in terms of hair and beauty treatments.

“I do waxing, tinting, facials, hair colouring and styling.

“I like making people feel good about themselves and clients become friends.”

Karen Cunningham, 52, of Wigan, foot care specialist, offers chiropody treatments, including corns, toes and nails and does pedicures.
