Championship trio in the hunt for Jamal Lowe

The expected sale of Jamal Lowe this week will further chip into Wigan Athletic's football creditors' debt.

He has reportedly agreed personal terms with Swansea City, Preston and Millwall - leaving the trio to battle it out for his signature.

Latics still owe Lowe's former club Portsmouth around £750,000 in unpaid transfer fees for him.

It is not unusual for clubs to pay transfer fees in installments, but outfits exiting administration need to clear their entire football creditors' debt in full first.

Latics previously rejected a £500,000 offer for the 26-year-old, as it would require Latics to immediately pay the remaining balance of £250,000.

The only other player still at the club in which a significant transfer fee is still owed is Josh Windass (£500,000 to Rangers). Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End have both been linked with permanent moves for him.
