Eaves is walking on Ayr after celebrating Gold Cup triumph

The horse is trained by Eaves’ future father-in-law Kevin Ryan.

And Shevington’s Eaves, who is engaged to the trainer’s daughter Amy, has even bigger targets on the horizon with Brando.

The Prix de l’Abbaye at Chantilly and the Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot are the options under consideration for the sprinter.

Eaves said: “It means a hell of a lot to win a race like this.

“These big races are not easy to win and it’s brilliant.

“It’s up there with anything I have done.”

It was Kevin Ryan’s fourth win in the Ayr Gold Cup.

Ryan now feels his charge deserves a tilt at Group One glory before the season is out.

Ryan said of Brando: “He’s great, he came out of the race very fresh and well.

“We’ll see how he is in the next four or five days and make a plan from there.

He’s in the Abbaye and he’s in on Champions Day at Ascot.

“We wouldn’t be worried about going back to five (furlongs) in the Abbaye and he obviously stayed the six (furlongs).”
