It's the busiest night of the year at Ashton Town FC.

But club chairman Mark Hayes cannot wait for 7.30pm tonight, when all of the hard work in putting on the annual Joseph’s Goal legends game will bear fruition as the Latics Legends and the Dutch Masters do battle.

“As always it’s an absolute honour to support Joseph’s Goal and host this amazing annual Latics Legends game,” admitted Hayes, a lifelong Latic fanatic.

“Every year it gets harder to top. However, it’s going to be literally out of this world when the ‘Three Amigos’ walk out on to the Ashton Town pitch.

“When putting on these games, it’s literally like playing the ultimate in fantasy football.

“This year, we’ll have the likes of Euro ‘88 winner Gerald Vanenburg, and Euro ‘04 winner Angelos Charisteas flying over and playing in the game, which is very surreal.

“I really hope not just Wigan Athletic fans, but also football fans in general turn up and support the night, as it going to be one hell of a game.

“We’d like to thank the following for their assistance and support: Ron Stomp & Avance ICT Groep Nederland, Andy Evans & Global Materials Handling Limited, Paul Cowley & TLK Automotive Solutions, Andy Lowey & D.N.E Ltd, Sarah Roberts & Sainsbury’s Distribution Centre in Haydock, Pesto restaurant and all at Ashton Town FC.”

Meanwhile, the Dutch Masters have drafted in a world-class ‘ringer’ for tonight’s big game – in the form of Greek superstar Angelos Charisteas.

The 37-year-old striker, who scored the winning goal for his country in the Euro 2004 final against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, qualifies for the Dutch after playing for Ajax and Feyenoord for several years.

Also in the Dutch side are ex-Liverpool pair Sander Westerveld and Jan Kromkamp, and former Manchester City duo Kiki Musampa and Michel Vonk.
