Balogun injury fear adding to Wigan Athletic woe

The German-born Nigeria international pulled up lame less than six minutes into Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Brentford with a groin problem.

And with only just over a fortnight left until the end of the campaign, he's hoping not to have played his final game in a Latics shirt.

"It's a tough one for me, it's only two and a half weeks to go," he said.

"We're going to assess it and see how it is.

"It didn't feel too sharp a pain, but I just felt my groin a little.

"Obviously it's a big disappointment, because while you're on the pitch you always feel you can influence the game.

"I will be looking at options I can do to accelerate the healing process, and hopefully get back on the field as quickly as possible."
